The Jewish Association on Aging's New Memory Care Center of Excellence
Built with Purpose, Love and Meaning
As we learn more about Alzheimer's disease and related dementias, as treatments progress, as therapies emerge, and as our understanding evolves, so too must the communities that provide memory care. Our loved ones deserve the very best.
Beginning Summer 2017, The Jewish Association on Aging opens the most exceptional memory care assisted living residence in Pittsburgh. Our AHAVA Memory Care Residence is Pennsylvania’s first Hearthstone-certified Memory Care Center of Excellence.
Combining the expertise of specialized caregivers, the support of a licensed assisted living community, the proven approach of the I’m Still Here® program developed by The Hearthstone Institute, and a purposeful interior design for those with memory loss, AHAVA Memory Care Residence is truly singular.
AHAVA Means Love
Ahava is the Hebrew word for love. We chose the name AHAVA for our new residence because we believe this one word captures our entire mission. It beautifully respects our vision and core values, and it connects to the Jewish traditions we cherish. For more than 100 years, we’ve been taking care of seniors. Why? It’s simple. Because at JAA, we honor, respect – and love – our seniors.
The Hearthstone Way
After careful consideration, AHAVA Memory Care Residence partnered with The Hearthstone Institute to provide this programming within our community. Founded in 1992 by renowned memory care expert Dr. John Zeisel, Hearthstone has been a recognized leader in the field of Alzheimer's care for more than 20 years. Its mission is to create welcoming environments where people living with Alzheimer's and related disorders can flourish.
AHAVA Memory Care Residence will feature Hearthstone’s signature I’m Still Here® programming which takes a new and effective approach to memory care. The program recognizes that when residents participate in meaningful engagement, that activity increases their quality of life and decreases the severity and frequency of symptoms commonly associated with memory challenges. It creates joy, purpose, and hope in daily life.
Certified by The Hearthstone Institute as Pennsylvania’s first Memory Care Center of Excellence, AHAVA Memory Care Residence is in good company. Such prestigious senior living communities as Charter House at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN and Edgewood in Andover, MA share our commitment to our residents and are Hearthstone Centers of Excellence as well.
